Knowing that there’s a Fourth King in each and every one of us.

The power of many:
Daily practice

The main purpose of this platform is to provide a frame for everybody who would like to make an impact with their Tonglen practice.
Because if many people perform the same meditation at the same time, the transformational power multiplies.
That’s why I chose the name “meditaid.net” – meditation that really helps, growing a net that covers the entire world – hopefully with many knots!

So here’s the frame
– In your timezone, try to practice at 08:00 am and/or at 08:00 pm.
– If any other time works better for you, try to start your practice at any full hour.
– Meditate once or twice or several times a day.
– Inhale any form of pain, despair or suffering you’re aware of. Your own, a friend’s, a family member’s… And as this is about all sentient beings: don’t forget about animals. Then exhale well-being, happiness, hope…
– Include the monthly focus topic as often as possible.
– One minute already counts. Five are very valuable. Fifteen are amazing.
– Try to find a “quiet” place. Closing your eyes while waiting for the bus is all that it takes to start…
– If you feel like you need some healing yourself first – follow this feeling and start with performing the Tonglen for yourself. If taking care of yourself is all you’re able to do at that moment – that’s a big deal already. Don’t feel guilty that there was no more energy for others. Actually never feel guilty. Ever.
– It’s that easy. Now start.

Monthly focus

All the time, all over the world, there is unlimited suffering.
But every now and then, there’s a tragedy that stands out.
Alternatively, the monthly focus can be inspired by special dates
or events involving people close to me.
Please include this in your Tonglen practice. Thank you.

May 2026: Famine and Food

This month is dedicated to all kinds of suffering around food. Most prominently the lack of it: famine. Droughts, floods and plagues are constantly adding to the already existing food insecurity, malnutrition and hunger across the globe. According to the United Nations World Food Programme, far more than 300 million people are living in hunger.
If you’re thinking “poor country problem” – nope! No need to look far: feedingamerica.org reports 48 million people facing food insecurity in the USA, with 1 in 5 children not having enough food to grow up strong.
If we include eating disorders, obesity, food allergies and food borne illnesses into our focus topic, we’ll probably cover at least half of the world’s population… Even better!
Think of yourself, friends, relatives, neighbors, strangers near and far, children, homeless, refugees, …

We inhale the all the suffering caused by a lack of (nutritious) food, food borne illnesses, eating disorders, obesity, food allergies. Pain, shame, despair, weakness, death.

We exhale well-being, self esteem, confidence, strength, hope.
